Careers
A diverse range of environmental roles support sustainability, conservation, and management of ecosystems where agriculture occurs. These include natural resource management roles and conservation management of ecosystems.
Support enviromental sustainability in action across agriculture
Provide meaningful impact by shaping environmental management and sustainable practices in agriculture that support healthy soils, waterways and ecosystems. From supporting soil health and biodiversity to clean waterways, conservation management and site rehabilitation, to tackling climate change, help keep our natural environments healthy for the future.
There are diverse environmental roles that can help make an impact in agriculture, including natural resource management (NRM) and conservation roles. Each day can be different, from assessing fieldsites, mapping and managing water catchments, developing conservation plans, monitoring wildlife and introduced animals, coordinating revegetation and tree planting, to helping farmers plan for a changing climate.
Natural resource management provides integrated management of natural resources in ecosystems, including land, water, soil, plants, and animals. This can include environmental assessments and monitoring, research, planning and consultation with communities. Conservation management combines conservation, site restoration and rehabilitation, management of reserves, biosecurity, and biodiversity. Apply a wide range of technical skills and knowledge, including using digital technologies to survey and monitor waterways and landscapes, track wildlife and introduced species, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to put sustainability into practice.
